Over the course of the 2013-14 school year we are responsible for raising the funds necessary to make this production a success. With the help of our dear mentor, Risa Steinberg, we began in September to discuss what it would mean to create and understand a budget for a project of this caliber in the real professional world. This dialogue challenged us to think beyond the pure dance elements of a production. We had to consider the following questions that one might face as a producer: Who is involved in bringing this project to life? How many personnel are needed? Who all receives compensation for their specialized service(s)? What are the costs associated with printing programs, manufacturing costumes, creating props and scenery, etc? We came up with participants such as dancers, composers, costume designers, lighting design and technical teams, production managers, and house managers. Let's just say these kinds of projects cost a pretty penny and we, the c/o 2014, are ready for the challenge!
In just a few months we have made ample progress promoting our upcoming production and we are currently looking forward to future fundraising developments. It is with your engagement and your support that the project will be possible. As we are the first graduating dance class to successfully launch a website we are hoping to really make public our process as producers and also to receive feedback and commentary from our readers to further sustain a dialogue with our local community. Check this page every Friday for new updates! We hope to see you at our upcoming performances and fundraising events!
